Local Agricultural Emergency

Statement from Reeve Elizabeth Kramer Declaring a Local Agricultural Emergency for the R.M. of Gull Lake No. 139

At our Regular Council Meeting held on June 15, 2023 we declared a Local Emergency within the borders of the rural Municipality of Gull Lake No. 139 due to the continuing seven year drought.  This  drought we are experiencing is resulting in the crops burning, pasture land under stress, some hay crops nonexistent and dwindling water supply in our dugouts.  As well,  the RM is encountering an influx of grasshoppers  which are causing serious damage to crops and pasture land.
